There is an international flavor to the new recordings I feature in this week’s edition of new Roadhouse Blues releases. Artists from Canada, Denmark, Italy, and Australia have all contributed to what is turning out to be another great year for the contemporary blues!!
Recordings Out Now – Albums
Shawn Kellerman – Kell’s Kitchen
A great recording from a Canadian bluesman. The album includes contributions from over 20 other artists including Bobby Rush, Zoom, Jason Ricci, Meghan Parnell, and the late great Lucky Peterson…oh yeah!
Little Albert – The Road Not Taken
Little Albert is the blues project of Alberto Piccolo from Italy. The album is a bit of a flashback to the acid blues of the late 1960’s….interesting listen~~
Sonic Saliva – Sonic Saliva
This debut album from the Danish group Sonic Saliva is some fantastic contemporary Rhythm & Blues. If you like the Teskey Brothers and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats, you are gonna love Sonic Saliva!!
The Soul of John Black – J.B.’s Blues Party
John Bigham first worked with Miles Davis back in the late 1980’s. These days he is crankin’ out some badass blues, soul and funk on the new recording….mhmm!
Mojo Mafia – Rescue Me
Another badass group from “down under”, Australia’s Mojo Mafia continues to impress me with the release of their third album. Primarily featuring a snappy upbeat bluzin’ sound, they are a perfect fit for a roadhousin’ Friday night!
