With the British musical Invasion of America in 1964, performances of the blues were largely swept aside. Other than juke joints and roadhouses specifically devoted to the blues, most clubs, bars, and concert venues were clammering for the new sounds that young people wanted to hear. In response, blues artists began a reverse invasion of Europe where crowds were still eager to hear the delta and electric blues and a whole new generation of young artists began to emerge in Western Europe and America that loved the blues but catered to the teenage and 20 something audiences of the 1960’s…..blues rock was born!!

Join me on http://www.bluesmusicfan.com from 3-5 pm ET today, September 15th, for the Ben Vee Roadhouse Blues as I spin tunes from the first era of blues rock during the years 1965 to 1979. I will have songs from Albert King, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Savoy Brown, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, Foghat, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and more!!

And sometime soon, I will do another show on the second era of blues rock which begins with the musical explosion of the Blues Brothers in 1980!!
