New Blues Music Releases and Upcoming Recordings (March 15th)

The Black Crowes have a new album out and two European artists, Kiko Garcia and Michael van Merwyk, have released new recordings. There are also a number of new singles released today including songs by Joanne Shaw Taylor, Sun House featuring J Lee and the Hoodoo Skulls, the Black Keys featuring Beck, and a new blues tune by Slash featuring Brian Johnson and Steven Tyler!! I hope you get to check them all out via links provided where available!!

Recordings Out Now – Albums

Micheal van Merwyk – Blues Everywhere I Go

Standing 6’7″, Michael is an imposing presence as he kicks out some awesome German blues on the new recording. Often characterized as an acoustic player, he breaks the mold on this album with some impressive contemporary blues tunes with insightful lyrics.

The Black Crowes – Happiness Bastards

It has been 15 years since the Black Crowes released an album of original music. They come roaring back on this recording with that distinctive southern rock sound that is wrapped in the blues. What a fantastic listen!!

Steve Howell & the Mighty Men – 99 1/2 Won’t Do

A Texan with strong roots in the Shreveport area, Steve Howell & the Mighty Men have an awesome laid back style that fits perfectly with a number of the covers of tunes from the 1960’s that are included on the new release. Steve’s guitar picking alone is worth the price of admission.

Kiko Garcia – 340 Ocean Av

Kiko rocks the blues on his new album which is only available on vinyl. He was kind enough to send me the audio for the recordings so I will be able to spin the tunes during my shows….oh yeah!!
