There are some great new & upcoming Blues album releases on the way! This past Friday, one of elder statesmen of the blues, John Primer, put out a memorable recording laden with covers of Delta blues classics. Also putting out new albums were Canadian Crystal Shawanda, who has a fantastic growling voice, and Chicago’s Johnny Iguana who can pound those ivories! There is also some great Euro blues on the debut effort by the Netherland’s Big Dave & the Dutchmen.
In the next two weeks, a slew of stars of the contemporary blues will release their latest creative works: Ally Venable, Anthony Gomes, Southern Avenue, Samantha Fish, Elles Baily, and GA-20. And in May Tajmo, the musical collaboration between Taj Mo and Keb’ Mo’ hits the market. Other artists that I can’t wait to hear some new music from include Brandon Santini, Carolyn Wonderland, Charlie Musselwhite, and Robin Trower.
