Tony Holiday – Motel Mississippi (Bear Family Records)

There is a lot of awesome contemporary blues comin’ out of Memphis. Amongst the city’s cream of the crop is Tony Holiday. With the release of his second solo album, Motel Mississippi, he vaults himself into the top tier of artists on my bucket list. My fave tune is Just As Gone…infectious beat with some great harmonica riffs. She’s So Cold is another great song with hints of the North Mississippi Allstars in the music. Overall, a great listen!!

Backtrack Blues Band – A Day By the Bay (Gulf Coast Records)

Some real deal live contemporary blues recorded at the Tampa Bay Blues Festival last year. This Florida based band just grooves the blues.  Love Help Me Just This Time, Dixie Grill, and Natural Born Lover are well worth a listen! Kid Royal is a badass on guitar…mhmm!

Bruce Katz Band – Connections (Dancing Rooster Records)

Imagine a blend of Steve Winwood and Gregg Allman kickin’ out contemporary funky blues rock jams and you have the essence of the talent of keyboardist Bruce Katz. He’s appeared on over 70 albums and with the release of his 10th solo album, he continues to affirm his place as one of the great keyboard players of his generation.

I got to listen to the entire album and it is vintage Ana with virtuoso guitar playing and some badass blues. Ana has recovered from a bout with cancer last year and is out on the road….check her tour schedule!

JW-Jones – Everything Now May 26 Stony Plain Records

This will be the 12th release by JW and features Jimmie Vaughan as guest artist. Can’t Wait!!

A fabulous blues artist out of Chicago, her guitar playing puts her in the same class as Mike Zito and Joe Bonamassa who will both be featured on her debut recording for Gulf Coast Records.

Ben Vee started out spinning songs on terrestrial radio and at nightclubs back in the 1970’s in his home state of Louisiana. After a career in the construction business, he returned to DJing in 2011. He now hosts two shows each week on http://www.bluesmusicfan.com and writes about the blues at http://www.benveeblues.com from his home in Connecticut. He also has a personal 24 hour stream devoted to the Roadhouse Blues… WRHB as well as a Youtube channel.

Altered Five Blues Band – Holler If You Hear Me

Featuring Jeff Taylor, who is an awesome singer, this band out of Wisconsin is a perennial roadhouse favorite.

They have had a long and storied career. I have listened to all 4 of the singles released so far and the southern blues rock vibe is great.

Sue Foley – Pinkey’s Blues

A Canadian artist with strong ties to Austin, Texas who is a great guitar player, singer, and songwriter.

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss – Raise the Roof

It has been a long time coming but the new collaboration between these two superstars picks up right where they left off!

Eric Gales – I Want My Crown

Produced by Joe Bonamassa. Should be an incredible blues rock recording.

Elles Bailey – Shining in the Half Light

This British talent is a roots blues and blues rocker with a great voice and style.
