For my generation, we were introduced to Leslie West via the group Mountain. And over the years, I enjoyed listening to a series of awesome blues rock albums that he put out. Now it is reported that Leslie passed away right before Christmas. He will be missed!!
In 2004, Leslie put out the song “If Heartaches Were Nickels” featuring a young singer and guitar player, Joe Bonamassa, who was then relatively unknown. Written by Warren Haynes (Gov’t Mule, the Allman Brothers), the song was also covered by Joe on his first album. I hope you get a chance to give it a listen and to remember the life and times of Leslie West….dead at the age of 75. Rest in Peace Brother!!
